The 2020 Palm Beach International Boat Show which was scheduled to run from March 26th through March 29th has been postponed until a future undisclosed date. This announcement has come from the President of Informa’s US Boat Shows, Andrew Doole, after rising concerns about large events further spreading the Coronavirus pandemic.
“The governor of Florida made an announcement (on March 11th) that he wanted to limit public gatherings to under 1,000 people,” said Doole. “The mayor of Palm Beach also asked us to postpone. He did this reluctantly because he’s a fan of the event.”
On Thursday, a day after President Donald Trump announced a ban on flights from Europe, organizers were compelled to cancel the event.
The Palm Beach International Boat Show (PBIS) showcases more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts and accessories in downtown West Palm Beach and drew over 53,000 attendees in 2019, according to the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County.
